Let Go, Let God.

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but Yours be done.” Luke 22:42

Let go and let God. I love the simplicity of that phrase, but wish it was as simple in practice. It can be hard to believe that He works all things together for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28), especially when an innocent life is caught in crime or a family member gets sick. In these difficult times we must look for comfort in God, and use those circumstances to grow. Hard times strengthen us, and prepare us for the next battle of our faiths. As we know, our faith will be like gold tested in fire.

Our will get’s in the way of God’s will. Sometimes we must let go of assumptions about the way that life “should” be and what we think is best. It’s not wrong to hope for a particular outcome, but we must be okay with the idea that it will not be what happens. We can’t blame God for rough patches, sickness, or anything else. Struggle is a reality. It is a test of our faith and confidence in God to bring peace.

This doesn’t mean that God will always intercede and make miracles. There will still be struggle and hardship. We are still called to be diligent in our work for the kingdom in whatever way that manifests in our lives, not just sit back and relax our way through life.

Father God, Prince of Peace, remind us of your power and grace. Be of comfort as we journey through the struggles of this world. We turn to you in times of need for you are strength to our human weakness.
